The Right Time To Remove Nursing Scrubs

It cannot be helped that some nurses tend to wear their uniforms and scrub suits outside of their place of work. This might be consciously or unconsciously done.  However, these nurses should be informed that they should put high premium on the dignity of their uniform.  There are certain cases where it should not be worn.

1.  During bedtime – the reason of course is that it is a hospital uniform and it is highly possible that there are viruses and bacteria clinging to it; it is not healthy to do so.  As a nurse, you knew already of the implication of not removing this uniform while at home.  Some hospitals do not even advise their nurses to bring home the scrub suit and insist that the hospital will do the cleaning for it.

2.   Occasion outside of work – you must not forget that you should removed it and change into regular clothing when it is time to go home or go somewhere else after work.  However, there are just some nurses who wear this uniform after work and go to parties of their friends, families, and relatives.  Not only that it reduces the uniform to disrespect but you will never know what kind of germs and bacteria that you accumulate while wearing it outside of work.

3.    At home – even if you have resigned from your job as nurse, it is still not right to wear scrub suits at home.  It may cause some uneasiness from your family members.  Besides you will look odd in it while doing household chores.

Whether it is one of those cheap scrubs acquired by the hospital or you personally bought it online, you must treat the uniform with respect and wear it only where and when it is intended.  Thus, it should not be worn outside of work.  You must remember that it should be disinfected after every use and when you are outside of the place of your work you might forget doing this thing and consciously wear it again when on duty.  You can just imagine the potential medical hazard that you bring into the work area.
