The Do’s and Don’ts on Nursing Scrubs

As a nurse, you have several ideas on what not to do and what you should do with regard to nursing scrubs.  However, there are nurses that need to be reminded.  Indeed, it is quite sad that there are some of them who are not passionate with their work and the first tell tale sign that you can detect is through their uniforms.

Don’t s
  1. Do not report to work without it.  Even though the hospital provided you with nursing scrubs, there are cases that you unconsciously failed to remove it and go home wearing it; do not make a mistake of reporting for duty without it.  It will really cost your job.
  2. Do not wear it when going to parties or personal activities.  It is tantamount to degrading your profession when you wear one and drunk at that.
  3. Do not let fashion rule your sense of style. Yes, there are online sites who are promoting style and fashion with regard to nursing scrubs and complement it with fashionable nursing scrubs shoes.  But, this is not what your job requires.  The least that you can do is refer to personnel department on what is the proper mode of dressing while on duty as a nurse.

Do’s
  1. Keep it clean and sanitize always.  There is no need to remind you how it affects your health if you accidentally bring it home.  Thus, you should be able to clean it after every use, regardless if you are tired to do so.  As a nurse, you interact with people you should do your responsibility of being hygienic always.
  2. Do obey hospital rules with regard to nursing scrubs.  The hospital administrations have ideas based on experience what should be or what shouldn’t be when it comes to nursing scrubs and the accompanying nursing scrubs shoes.  It is not only for your own good but for the patients as well.

These are just simple rules to live by and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to decipher which one is right or not.  It’s just sometimes one has to be reminded.
